One fixed set of encryption
There are no cipher settings to choose, so nobody can pick a weak one by accident.
WireGuard is a modern VPN protocol built to be lean and quick. It sets up your encrypted tunnel in one short exchange and keeps it running with very little overhead. In Tunnexa it's our quickest option, and you can use it without an account.
WireGuard is a newer VPN protocol, designed to be much simpler than the ones before it. Less code means less to go wrong, and less work for your phone on every packet it sends.
Connecting takes one short exchange. Your phone says hello, the server replies, and the encrypted tunnel is up. After that, WireGuard quietly swaps in fresh keys every couple of minutes.
Tunnexa then checks that the server really answered. If replies stop, the app tells you, rather than showing Connected over a link that’s gone quiet.
No reply within 20 seconds? Tunnexa disconnects and says it couldn't reach the server, instead of leaving you on a dead link.
Yes. It's built on modern encryption, and its design leaves very little room for mistakes.
There are no cipher settings to choose, so nobody can pick a weak one by accident.
WireGuard's code is far smaller than older VPN protocols, which makes it easier for security researchers to review.
Every fresh handshake brings new keys, so an old key can't read newer traffic.
WireGuard doesn't hide that it's a VPN, so networks that block VPNs can recognize it. That's exactly what AmneziaWG, a disguised WireGuard, is for.
Both encrypt everything you send. They differ in how they get it there, and where they struggle.

|---|---|---|
| Design | Newer, small and simple | Older, flexible and very widely used |
| On your phone | Quick to connect, and quick to recover when you switch networks | Steady, a little slower to connect |
| Travels over | UDP | UDP or TCP |
| Strict Wi-Fi | Often blocked | The TCP version gets through more often |
| In Tunnexa | Free for guests | UDP free for guests, TCP with a free account |
In the appSettings › Select Protocol › WireGuard
Download Tunnexa free from Google Play. Tap Skip if you'd rather not make an account.
Open Settings, tap Select Protocol, then WireGuard. As a guest, Recommended picks WireGuard or OpenVPN UDP for you anyway.
Android asks once to allow the VPN connection. After that, it's one tap.

WireGuard is a modern VPN protocol that builds an encrypted tunnel between your device and a VPN server. It's known for being lean and quick, and it's the quickest option in Tunnexa.
Yes. It uses one fixed set of modern encryption and refreshes its keys every couple of minutes. It doesn't hide that it's a VPN, though, so on networks that block VPNs, use AmneziaWG.
Tunnexa is free and offers WireGuard to everyone, guests included. Install the app, tap Skip, and connect.
On most networks, yes. It's leaner and connects quicker. On strict Wi-Fi, though, OpenVPN TCP may connect where WireGuard can't.
Some networks drop the kind of traffic WireGuard uses, and some spot VPNs and block them on purpose. Try OpenVPN TCP on strict Wi-Fi, and AmneziaWG where VPNs are banned.
No. WireGuard is built into Tunnexa, so there's nothing else to install and no config file to import.
